Known for it’s mouth-watering chocolate and gorgeous architecture, Brussels is also a shopper’s paradise. It might not come to mind when you think of a shopping holiday, overshadowed by places like Paris and London. But it’s compact size makes it a great place for a shopping weekend and means you’ll find everything you want in a relatively small area. From the 3rd to the 31st of January the Belgian capital will be buzzing with shoppers looking for a good deal. We’ve put together a list of the best places to go to enjoy some bargains in the January sales.
Louise District
In one of Brussels’s chicest shopping districts you’ll find all the usual shops like Chanel, Hugo Boss, and Ralph Lauren as well as some some independent boutiques. Most of the shops here will run sales from the beginning of January so it’s the perfect place to head for designer bargains. One of our favourite shops in the area is No Concept Store, where you’ll be presented with a stylish edit of Belgian designers and home accessories.

Dries Van Noten
Part of the world-famous Antwerp Six, Dries Van Noten is a home-grown fashion superstar. His eccentric designs are on the wish-list of every stylish shopper and his Brussel’s store is the perfect place to shop for some original pieces. He does menswear and womenswear and during the January sales you can expect to save up to 60% on his exquisite collections.

Known for their playful and irreverent collections, Comme des Garcons is a favourite among trendy millennials. Head to Blender 01 where you’ll find the cheaper PLAY range with extra money off during the January sales.

Maison Margiela
Along with Dries Van Noten, Maison Margiela was also part of the Antwerp six. During the sales, this place is rammed with people looking for bargains so you can expect popular sizes to sell out quickly. The store is a pleasure to explore and was the first European store for the brand to open, so it’s a sort of pilgrimage for real fashion fans. The sales will start at the beginning of January and the discounts will increase throughout the month so it might be worth holding out towards the end for a real steal.

Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert
This stunning shopping arcade is worth a visit just to admire the beautiful architecture, but Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, is also one of the best places to go shopping during the January sales. The long narrow alleyway is lined with glass shop fronts selling everything from clothes to chocolate. Have a wonder around here over the sales period and you’re surely find something you love.

Godiva
Godiva has been the premier maker of premium Belgian chocolate since 1926, when it opened its doors on a cobblestone street on Grand Place, Brussels’ central square. There are now lots of branches dotted around the city, and although you don’t need to wait for the sales for an excuse to buy chocolate, you might find a delicious bargain. Sometimes their Christmas stock is sold for a fraction of the price, perfect if you don’t mind something slightly out of season.

Cook & Book
Often hailed as the best bookshop in Brussels and we’d be inclined to agree. Cook & Book is a wonderful place to while away an hour, browsing the shelves and enriching your reading wish list. You can then pop into the adjoining restaurant for a bite to eat. The shop is separated into 9 rooms, each one with a completely unique atmosphere. During the sales period, some titles will have a discount and you may find some buy one get one free deals.

This achingly hip boutique is a platform for emerging local and international designers. Hunting and Collecting plays host to a range of brands and every 6 months it completely changes its stock. So January is a brilliant time to visit when you might find some very fashionable bargains.
