Famous designer brands like Bruno Cucinelli and Etro laid out the newest looks that Italian men are sure to sport this season!

The Top Spring/Summer 2022 Menswear Collections from Milan Fashion Week

Brioni

The thing about Italian menswear is that it no longer has to prove anything. The world already knows that Italian designers are some of the best when it comes to men's fashion, which is why they can get away with relaxed and effortless style. Just take a look at Brioni's spring/summer 2022 collection. Though it has its fair share of string tailoring, it's the more casual pieces that take your breath away. Silk shirts that you don't have to button all the way up, a cashmere pullover that's perfect for cool spring weather, and more. What's not to love? Source: Brioni Instagram Page

Brunello Cucinelli

If there's one man that knows how to truly rock a suit, it's the Italian man. And world-class brand Brunello Cucinelli continues to prove it again and again. Though this label's clientele has gone international over the years, the Italian man remains its utmost priority. As well as its most beloved muse. Brunello Cucinelli's spring/summer 2022 collection clearly has the old-fashioned Italian man in mind. In spring, he's sporting the classic suits in either printing monochrome white or different shades of navy. By summer, he's wearing casual cashmere pieces that are perfect for the Mediterranean heat!

Dolce & Gabbana

For their first in-person show in Milan Fashion Week in over a year, Dolce & Gabbana came back with a bang. The design duo's spring/summer 2022 collection was a celebration of Italy and the Italian men. Practically every single piece was embellished or studded, each looking more maximalist than the next. And who else but this controversial pair would dare to dress their macho models in the colors of the Italian flag? Though many might see them as tacky, there's no denying the jovial atmosphere of the show. It's a much-needed liveliness after almost two years of quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Etro

If you were to combine bohemian style with disco fabulosity and pepper in some historic aesthetic, you'd get Etro's wildly colorful spring/summer 2022 collection. Decorated with the Italian brand's signature prints, there's a sort of nomadic feel about the entire line. You can just sense that many of the more casual pieces are perfect for traveling off to summer destinations and reveling in the sunshine on the seaside. However, the snazzy suits made up of metallic pieces and gradient color schemes also scream disco all the way! Quite the juxtaposition, isn't it?

Fendi

When Silvia Venturini Fendi said that she wanted to 'free the men' and let them 'break boundaries' with her spring/summer 2022 menswear collection for Fendi, no one would've ever thought that meant baring the midriff. From the second look onwards, the most notable looks in her show were the well-constructed bare-midriff suits, likely to become the next big trend for men this summer. Yet, even with this supposed 'freedom' of gender identity and deconstruction of societal sartorial norms, the entire line still looked disciplined and polished. It's the sort of fashionable irony that veterans like Silvia Venturini Fendi can only manage to procure.

Gucci

Though Gucci is a Milan Fashion Week staple, the Italian luxury brand took its spring/summer 2022 collection all the way to Hollywood boulevard. They had the entire iconic street shut down and made it their own runway for what became known as the 'Gucci Love Parade.' The entire line was all about old Hollywood Glamour with Alessandro Michele's signature quirk. For women, that meant flowing gowns with fanciful feather trim. But for the men, it was all about the fabulous suits in silk, satin, sequins, and more.

Jil Sander

Although Luke and Lucie Meier, the creative directors of Jil Sander, have continued the brand's signature minimalist in their own collections, it never looks and feels boring. Many of what they've offered, including the recent spring/summer 2022 menswear collection, are simple, sure, but there's more than just that. This latest line, for instance, had lots of dimensions. There was more to the streamlined looks than their simplicity and casual refinery. There was elegance by way of precise tailoring and comfort by way of exceptional knitwear.

Moschino

Trust Jeremy Scott to add a lot of humor and fun into Italy's largely strict and experimental menswear scene. His spring/summer 2022 collection, inspired by the 1955 musical, 'Guys and Dolls,' had all the glamour of Old Hollywood. But far from the fabulous display of maximalism from Gucci, Moschino's was more mischievous and even slightly cartoony! Who else by Scott would pair a hamburger-printed t-shirt with sequined co-ords? Or a bright red pinstriped suit that made one look like an animated 1950s mafia character?

Prada

The Prada man is baring his legs this spring/summer 2022! Though the Italian label's menswear collection had its fair share of pants and suits, the skimpy shorts and jumpsuits were undoubtedly the scene-stealers. Weirdly enough, in true ironic Prada fashion, as the legs were more exposed, the head and torso were more covered-up. Oversized jackets, tailored coats, and bucket hats accompanied the short shorts. It's the type of stark contrast that's to be expected from this highly cerebral yet trendsetting label!
