Where to Live in Paris As A Solo Traveler

For the most part, Paris is often a city you visit with company. It's a well-known destination for honeymooners, a great place for an international school trip, or one that you can only afford when you take your entire family. However, what if you're traveling alone? Wouldn't you rather get lost in the wonderful secrets of the French capital if you're there by yourself. It's an easier way to get to know the locals too! So in many ways, it's better to go to Paris solo. But where should you stay? Here are a few suggestions.

Where to Live in Paris As A Solo Traveler

Eiffel Tower District

The clincher is already in the name! Admit, whether it's your first time or your hundredth time going to Paris, you can't help but marvel at the iconic Eiffel Tower. It's like a trip here won't feel complete unless you see it, even from a mile away. What more if you get to see it practically every day while you're here? Fortunately, there are a ton of luxury homes in the Eiffel Tower district that you can rent for your accommodation. And since the area is a central part of the city, getting public transport wouldn't be that difficult as well!

Marais District

If you want to enjoy the upper-middle-class lifestyle in Paris, the Marais district is your best bet. It's not the most luxurious district in the city, but it's lively and trendy nonetheless. Various shopping districts here feature French designers and other luxury brands from around the world. Modern art galleries become the center of the city's social scene, especially when there are exhibition openings and fashion shows involved. Not to mention, of course, the several cafés that will help you relax with a nice cup of coffee. As the saying goes, 'this is the life' in Paris!

Montmartre

'Turn away from this village of sin!' said a character in the 2001 box office hit, 'Moulin Rouge!' The 'village' in question? Montmartre! Granted, the district now is far from what it used to be back at the turn of the 20th century (the period where 'Moulin Rouge!' is set), it's still a place where the ideas of 'freedom, beauty, truth, and love' remain central, making it a great place to experience when you're by yourself. The energy here is pretty much liberated, a center for bohemia where intellectualism and romance converge. Add to that the nostalgic spots, from those that remained from the 1920s to even beyond!

The Latin Quarter

Speaking of romance, there's arguably no other place for getting it than in the Latin Quarter, another central hub for bohemia in Paris, it's arguably one of the most romantic areas in the city. Every corner you turn to is a hit of nostalgia, ranging from the pre-war buildings to cafés and bistros that have remained the same since the early 20th century. Add to that the famous left bank of the River Seine, a popular date venue especially for a romantic picnic. Now, with all that said, shouldn't this convince you that it's better to stay here with a significant other? Well, why not go for a romantic fling with a Parisian instead? You might meet him/her/they in the Latin Quarter as well!

Pigalle Quartier

Let's stay on the topic of romance for solo travel for a bit ad extend to the more taboo side that is sex. If you're traveling by yourself in Paris, one of the more sexually liberated cities in the world, wouldn't you want to explore your sexuality as well? If so, this is why La Pigalle Quartier is an excellent place to stay. Home to the red light district of the French capital, it offers first-class cabarets, unapologetic sex shops, and, of course, a string of nightlife hotspots as well. This is definitely a place you won't want to go to with your family!

Montorgueil

Streets filled with people, busy markets, affordable shops, and more. Part of what makes the Montorgueil district more suitable for solo travelers is that it's so hectic here that exploring it with company might be more of a hassle. Don't get it wrong: it'd still be fun to go here with friends, family, or even work colleagues, but since the place is often so busy and extremely crowded, there's a big chance you might get separated. In the end, you'll be exploring this area in the 2nd arrondissement all by yourself. So why not start it with just yourself in the first place? Also, since it's generally safe in Montorgueil, female solo travelers are better off staying here as well.

Saint-Germain-des-Prés

From the sweetest desserts to the French movies that will blow your mind, there's a lot that Saint-Germain-des-Prés offers to solo travelers. In fact, there's so much to look forward to in this district that doing so with other people, especially those who won't hold the same interests as you, would slow you down. The Saint-Germain-des-Pré area is one that offers both the luxurious side and the local side of Paris. There are iconic cafes, sweets shops that sell the most delectable Parisian treats, and a nightlife scene that's more chill than in other places. It's okay to be a little selfish and enjoy them all by yourself while you're here!

Passy

Known as the 'Suburbs of Paris,' Passy is a common choice among expats who've relocated to Paris. But is it also suitable for solo travelers visiting the French capital? You bet it is! Firstly, true to its moniker, the peace and quiet that this largely residential area offers makes it a safe place to call home while you're in Paris. Unfortunately, you can't say that about all the districts in the city. Secondly, it's quite near a ton of Paris' most famous landmarks, or, at the very least, easy to gain access to public transport.

Paris may be a big city, but there are certain parts of it that are perfect for traveling solo. When you're planning your next trip here and you're choosing a place to stay, why not consider any of these awesome districts? You might have a better time here if you do!

Oh, and before you worry about finding the right luxury home for you, don't worry! These districts have their fair share of them that you can choose!
