Danube River

It seems that every major city has its own river. There's the Hudson River in New York, the Seine River in Paris, and the Thames River in London, to name a few. And here in Budapest, there's the scenic Danube River. Flowing amidst the city's grandest castles, churches, and buildings, it's undoubtedly one of the best Instagrammable spots around. What's great about it is that you can capture the perfect Instagram post of the river from just about any angle and vantage point.

Hungarian Parliament Building

Among the many great sights right by the Danube River, the iconic Hungarian Parliament Building stands as a symbol of the country's history and heritage. It's perhaps the most famous government building in all of Budapest, similar to the likes of Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. or Buckingham Palace in London. Not to mention the biggest building in the country too. No other structure, be it in the Hungarian capital or beyond, could ever compare to the Hungarian Parliament Building.

Buda Castle

As with any other European city out there, some of Budapest's best Instagram-worthy spots are centuries-old palaces and castles. Buda Castle is a great example of this. Built back in 1265, it's among the oldest castles that still stand to this day. Not to mention a stunning piece of Baroque architecture. From its painstaking symmetry to its grand scale, it's easy to picture how Hungarian royalty and nobility lived here back in the day. They probably looked majestic!

The Fishermans Bastion

Located in the 1st district of Budapest, the famous Fisherman's Bastion is among the city's most beloved monuments. It stands as the first line of defense of Buda Castle, hence, its rigid design. But what truly makes it an Instagram-worthy spot is that it offers the best of both worlds. You can capture the monument on its own and enchant your followers with its Medieval appeal. Or you can go inside the Fisherman's Bastion, up to its famous three-arched window, and capture a stunning shot of the Hungarian capital instead.

Matthias Church

If you stick around Buda Castle, you'll eventually find your way to the grand Matthias Church. Known for its captivating Gothic architectural design, it almost puts the world-famous Notre Dame cathedral in Paris to shame. The French monument is great and iconic, sure, but it's definitely not as imposing as Matthias Church. Its tall tower alone makes Notre Dame look minuscule. And when you look closely, you'll realize that all sorts of fascinating patterns decorate the church's exterior. Meanwhile, the interior is filled with beautiful frescoes.

Vajdahunyad Castle

Not tired of castles yet? They are perfect fodder for travel inspo Instagram accounts, especially when posting about European cities like Budapest. People can't help but get enchanted by fairytale-like structures like Vajdahunyad Castle, for example, which stands in the City Park of the Hungarian capital. Though it's a copy of Hunyad Castle in Romania, this landmark is just as breathtaking. With its interesting combination of Medieval and Victorian architectural design, this almost seems like the perfect castle that would inspire Disney.

Széchenyi Chain Bridge

What's a big city without a big bridge? It seems that most of the major metropolises around the world have their own incredible bridge to offer. And here in Budapest, it's definitely the beguiling Széchenyi Chain Bridge. As the structure that connects Buda and Pest, the eastern and western sides of Budapest respectively, it's already one of the most important parts of the city. But its own opulent design, complete with grand arches and intricate sculptures, makes it Instagrammable too!

Gellért Hill

Standing at 235 meters (771 feet), Gellért Hill is among the highest peaks in Budapest. The hill is right by the Danube River, offering up incredible views of the rest of the city. The hill itself is already Instagram-worthy, especially if you capture the perfect shot of the Liberty Statue in all its glory. And if you climb up the hill yourself, you can capture some of the most astounding views of the Hungarian capital. What more could you ask for?

Margaret Island

Right smack in the middle of Buda and Pest is Margaret Island, an island on the Danube River. Almost similar to the likes of Île de la Cité in Paris, the place offers a beautiful and serene escape from the rest of the city. After all, the island is made up of parklands. No office buildings and busy districts, just lush gardens, open fields, a famous musical garden, and even the ruins of a 13th-century Dominican convent. If those don't make Margaret Island Instagram-worthy, then what will?

Szechenyi Thermal Bath

And finally, there's Budapest's iconic Szechenyi Thermal Bath. It's safe to say that this is one of the most iconic spots in the Hungarian capital. Some would even go so far as to say this is what draws many people to travel to Budapest. And they won't be entirely wrong either! The Szechenyi Thermal Bath is the Hungarian capital's own unique gem. There aren't as many thermal baths in the world that are as grand and as beautiful as this one!
