Have anything to wear this summer in Paris? The usual style staples? Or what about what the biggest French designer brands have in store? Right about now, they're probably releasing their Cruise 2023 collections. And they're all incredibly chic! There's Christian Dior, for example, with their flamenco-inspired frocks and fringes. On the other hand, Chanel is all about dressing up like you're on the French Riviera 25/7. And Saint Laurent? They're all about combining diaphanous drapery with top-notch tailoring. Any of these fine designer collections are sure to help you look as hot and hip as ever come summertime!

The Best Resort 2023 Collections from Paris

Balmain

Resort is supposed to be the season for clothes you'll wear when you go on vacation. Think crochet tops, skimpy swimsuits, and sweeping kaftans. And yet, Olivier Rousteign put out all the stops for his Tutankamen-inspired resort 2023 collection for Balmain! With heavy decoration and intricate embellishment, these ornate looks aren't the kind you'd wear in a coastal town somewhere in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean. With this level of craftsmanship, this is practically haute couture! Perfect for spending summertime in the lap of luxury in Paris. But for vacations? Probably not. Source: Balmain Instagram Page

Chanel

There's clearly only one place that Virgine Viard was thinking of when she designed Chanel's resort 2023 collection—the French Riviera! Heavily inspired by the Grand Prix, Viard dressed her models in full racer garb. From utilitarian onesies paired with matching caps to anything checkered under the sun, the Chanel spin on them was as chic as ever. Of course, touches of Saint Tropez and Monaco didn't go unnoticed either! The metallic gold pieces, as kitschy as they were, harkened back to the glamour of these resort towns. And the flowing maxi dresses held the spirit of the Mediterranean too!

Christian Dior

While Chanel was focused on the Grand Prix on the French Riviera, Christian Dior was over at Seville in Spain for flamenco-flavored flair. Maria Grazia-Chiuri held a spectacular resort 2023 show at the Andalucian capital, which is also the central city for Spanish culture in many ways. Here, she presented a parade of Spanish-styled clothes, all intertwined with Dior's own famous signatures The “New Look” silhouette looked right at home with all the heavy lace and fluttering fringes. The haute couture house’s signature tailoring also expertly translated the traje de luces that bullfighters wear into such desirable jackets for the season.

Isabel Marant

Always the leading authority in effortless Parisian style, Isabel Marant's resort 2023 collection took on the latest trends that have dominated the Paris Fashion Week runways as of late. She likens her latest offering to a “Nineties meets Y2K” situation, combining the minimalism of the former with the sex appeal and youthful abandon of the latter. The result? Nothing short of chic! A denim co-ord will look fabulous as both a day look and an outfit to the club when you spend summer in Paris. As would a ruched dress in either lilac or rose, but then these frocks would better suit a date in a candlelit restaurant in Paris instead! Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton held their resort 2023 fashion show in Southern California, a world away from the bustling but equally sunny French capital. Womenswear creative director Nicolas Ghesquière started the show by trotting out three floor-length looks, each more captivating than the next. Their Grecian appeal but dusty color scheme reminded any of the costumes in the 2022 film 'Dune.' And lo and behold, the rest of the collection boasted a chic sci-fi surprise. Nevertheless, even when the clothes got a bit too technical in tailoring and decoration, they never lost that poetic charm!

Saint Laurent

Anthony Vacarello is no stranger to contrasts. From his early collections in his own label to his most recent works at Saint Laurent, he has presented a good number of intriguing and fascinating sartorial juxtapositions. His latest resort 2023 collection is no exception. Combining the house's signature strict tailoring with his own affinity for soft draping, this latest showing revealed a different side to Vacarellos. Ironically, one that's familiar to fans of old-school Saint Laurent. This play on masculine vs. feminine, all while rendered in bright pops of color a'la Yves, is definitely one for the books!
