The Best Fashion Moments from The 74th Cannes Film Festival

July 24, 2021
2021-07-24
As expected, the 74th Cannes Film Festival went off without a hitch. After skipping a year, the prestigious event presented the best newest films out there, even making history with notable recipients of the various grand prizes. Not to mention the latest works of some of the most esteemed filmmakers out there. And as always, the 2021 edition was full of gloss and glamour, with A-list celebs and supermodels rocking the best fashions, many of which came straight from the runways. Out of all the best-dressed this year, here are the top red carpet moments that caught everyone's attention.

The Best Fashion Moments from The 74th Cannes Film Festival

Bella Hadid in Schiaparelli Haute Couture

When it comes to shocking red carpet moments, Bella Hadid has no chill! The model is known to bear it all yet still look elegant at the same time, almost like it's a skill that only a few acquire. Well, she certainly made use of it when she walked the red carpet in a bosom-bearing black number from Schiaparelli. She wore a dress straight out of the brand's fall 2021 haute couture collection, further proving her A-list access to Paris fashion houses. The long-sleeved black dress came with a golden tree necklace that served to cover her biggest 'assets.' Now that's a memorable red carpet moment! Source: Bella Hadid Instagram Account

Isabelle Huppert in Balenciaga Haute Couture

Arguably the biggest takeaway from this year's Cannes Film Festival red carpet is that black will always look good no matter what. And among those who sported this dark hue, none were as captivating as French actress Isabelle Huppert in Balenciaga haute couture. During the first weekend of the festival, she brought the house down in a flattering silk number expertly paired with sunglasses and a diamond bracelet on each wrist. In one look, she personified the city's Mediterranean vibe with the festival's glamorous reputation. She truly is a French fashion icon! Source: Isabelle Huppert Instagram Account

Sharon Stone in Dolce & Gabbana

While Sharon Stone was infamously sexy for wearing white in her 1992 film, 'Basic Instinct,' she looked the exact opposite in the same color on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. Dressed in Dolce & Gabbana, she was the picture of timeless elegance in a pristine asymmetric gown. With her long sash that beautifully trailed behind her, she proved that ageless style is eternal. Perhaps, this new white look will finally help people move on from her infamous scene in the 1992 movie? Source: Sharon Stone Instagram Account

Andie MacDowell in Prada

Speaking of ageless style, Andie MacDowell also expertly exhibited it when she stepped out in a custom Prada dress on the red carpet. Since the Cannes Film Festival had become known as the arena for young starlets and bombshell supermodels, it was almost shocking that the 63-year-old American actress decided to embrace her silver hair. Pairing beautifully with her equally stunning silver dress, she stood as living proof that true beauty and style know no age! Source: Andie MacDowell Instagram Account

Marion Cotillard in Chanel Haute Couture

As far as French actresses are concerned, one of the most stylish is Marion Cotillard. Having become the muse of some of the most beloved French designer labels, she's known to dress to impress, both on the red carpet and in everyday life. At this year's Cannes Film Festival, she stepped out in a shimmering silver Chanel haute couture number that was fitted to perfection. You can tell that she glowed from the inside out, exhibiting confidence with every pose she gave to the cameras. Source: Marion Cotillard Instagram Account

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Chanel Haute Couture

If there's one thing Maggie Gyllenhaal is known for when it comes to red carpet dressing, it's that she marches to the beat of her own drum. She was never the conventional type when it came to her sartorial choices, as proven by her unique Chanel haute couture look at this year's Cannes Film Festival. While others wore ball gowns and long dresses, Gyllenhaal, who was part of the main jury this year, dared to sport a two-piece ensemble consisting of a silky white shirt and a black tulle skirt. Who could have ever thought that these casual French fashion staples would look good on the red carpet too? Only Gyllenhaal could pull that off. Source: Maggie Gyllenhaal Instagram Account

Diane Kruger in Armani Privé Haute Couture

German actress Diane Kruger is the type of fashion icon that always looks good no matter what. Every time she steps onto the red carpet, she always looks so pristine and sophisticated, you'd swear she came from another time. Just look at her first divine Armani Privé look on the first weekend of the 74th Cannes Film Festival. Doesn't she look immaculate in the sparkling embellished ball gown? And what a perfect brand choice too! Among the many Paris haute couture houses that stand now, Armani Privé is the one that has truly mastered classic elegance in red carpet dressing. Jodie Turner-Smith in Custom Gucci

When an ebony beauty like Jodie Turner-Smith steps out in a corseted feathered frock by Gucci, of course, everyone's gonna take notice. The Italian designer brand isn't exactly known for red carpet dressing, but when they do go down this route, you can bet that they'll always leave a lasting impression. And who better to serve as muse than this stunning dark-skinned British actress? The slightly avant-garde look fit the statuesque beauty perfectly, making for a major red carpet fashion moment no one will ever forget! Source: Jodie Turner-Smith Instagram Account

Coco Rocha in Christian Dior Haute Couture

Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha has graced countless fashion magazine covers and walked on the most well-known runways in the world. So, of course, she can look good in just about anything. Many would think that seeing her in designer clothing would be par for the course, right? Be that as it may, when she stepped out on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year in a burgundy Christian Dior haute couture ball gown, she took everyone's breath away! She looked like a walking fashion spread at that moment, further cementing her place as a top supermodel that's still a cut above the rest. Source: Coco Rocha Instagram Account

Timothée Chalamet in Tom Ford

Now, how about a little menswear up in here? This year, it was young actor Timothée Chalamet who took everyone's attention as the best-dressed man at the Cannes Film Festival. Though he sorted a ton of notable looks, appearing in a silver and gold metallic Tom Ford jacquard suit was definitely the most memorable. He shone even more as the flashes of the photographers' cameras captured his innate confidence and adorable boyish charm. No one does it better than him nowadays! At this year's 74th Cannes Film Festival, fashion remained the name of the game. All the biggest stars stepped out in their best ensembles, captivating audiences and serving new looks that likely set new trends for the near future!

Whether it's during the iconic Film Festival or not, the city of Cannes is always as glamorous as its fashionable red carpet. Even the luxury homes here are just as immaculate!
