What To Expect in Paris This July 2021

June 19, 2021
2021-06-19
With everything that has happened in the past few months and weeks, it's safe to say that Paris has gone back to normal. Albeit, relatively. Businesses have gone back up, travel restrictions have been lifted, and people are walking the streets once more. It almost makes you think that the city, more so the rest of the world, didn't just go through a global pandemic. Ever since the country gradually reopened, things have become even livelier in the French capital. And this coming July 2021, it's only gonna get more exciting. Here are some events you can expect here in Paris.

What To Expect in Paris This July 2021

Fête des Tuileries (July 3 to August 30)

Right off the bat, on the third day of the month, July 3, 2021, it's the opening day for Fête des Tuileries! A highly-anticipated carnival-like festival in Jardin de Tuileries, one of the more famous parks in Paris, it's a treasure trove of rides, games, and all sorts of fun activities. The name of the festival, 'Fête des Tuileries,' translated into English means 'fun fair,' so you can probably already tell what this event is all about. After a one-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, the festival returns to entertain all the young kids and the young-at-heart in the French capital.

Festival Européen Jeunes Talents (July 4 - 24)

Do you love classical music? If you're visiting or living in Paris, you probably have, at the very least, some affection for the classical arts, right? If so, then you ought to have bought tickets to the Festival Européen Jeunes already! Starting on July 4 up until the 24th, concerts, recitals, and shows will be held all over the city, all featuring emerging talent in the world of classical music. From newly-discovered pianists to young conductors ready to show their worth, they will display their talents, skills, and artistry for all the world, especially those in Paris, to hear.

Paris Haute Couture Week (July 5 - 8)

Although it's not as busy as ready-to-wear, Paris Haute Couture Week is one of the most hotly-anticipated bi-annual events in the fashion world. And this year, the autumn-winter presentations will happen from July 5 to 8, 2021. At this time, some of the biggest French designer brands, labels recognized as 'haute couture' houses by the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture, will showcase their latest collections. It's possible this will be the first time since early 2020 that fashion shows will be staged again in the French capital. So expect a barrage of celebrities, fashion insiders, and influencers to take over the city during this couple of days.

Bastille Day (July 14)

Arguably the most important French national holiday, Bastille Day will happen on July 14, 2021. And since this is the first Bastille Day since France and Paris have relatively reopened, it's possible the capital will hold its traditional celebrations for the special day. Though it's likely people will still be encouraged to practice social distancing and wear face masks, it's not far-fetched to expect a grand parade, street parties, and fireworks during France's own 'Independence Day.' Especially after what France has gone through with the global pandemic, people will want to celebrate this holiday as loud, as proud, and as openly as they possibly can.

Watch Movies at Parc de la Villette (July 14 - 19)

Parc de la Villette is certainly one that stands out amongst all the other parks in Paris. Its modern look alone makes it a must-see when you've grown tired of the well-manicured and classical gardens that are more famous. But this July, there will be another reason why you ought to go here. From July 14 to 19, 2021, Parc de la Villette will start screening movies in the evening again. It's an annual tradition that's coming back after the city (and the rest of France) went into lockdown due to the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Tour de France Finale (July 18)

Tour de France, one of the most famous men's bicycle races in the world, will finally have its finale on July 18, 2021, right here in the French capital. Though there's no saying when it will start and end, there's a big chance the race will arrive in the city by 3:00 pm and will finish at around 5:30 pm. Stay along the side of the famous Champs-Élysées, where the race will likely reach its penultimate climax, and watch as some of the world's best cyclists beat each other to get that iconic and coveted glass trophy.
