A vibrant metropolis packed with so much history, heritage, and beauty. It's not difficult to see why Rome has become a favorite among many travelers. But is it a city that kids like? apart from the gelato stores, what else will the little ones find amusing enough to want to go back here? Practically everything about Rome is for the adults, leaving little to nothing for the children to enjoy. Of course, that's not entirely true! In fact, the Italian capital has a good many playgrounds and the like that the little ones are bound to enjoy and appreciate.

Aqueduct Park

There's only a handful of non-touristy things to do in Rome and going to Aqueduct Park is one of them. Right off the beaten path that most visitors to Rome take, this vast patch of land is a perfect escape from the hustles and bustles of the Italian capital. And your kids will enjoy going here are much as you will. There's a nice little playground they can play and run around, and with so much space to go around, they have all the world to enjoy. Eventually, when it's time to go home, they'll be too tired to make a fuss about not wanting to leave yet!

Castel Sant’Angelo

Just by its name along—and its close proximity to The Vatican—you probably think this place isn't what your kids would want to visit. True, perhaps, but when they find out they're going to a castle, they'll probably be thrilled! Even more so since there's a nice playground in the area. Complete with swings, a slide, and enough space to play sports and chase pigeons, they'll enjoy the place even better. While it may not be a great idea to bring them to a 2nd-century castle that might scare them more than excite them, at least there's a place for them here to have fun!

Villa Borghese Gardens Playground

A mini cottage, a tiny wooden bridge, a slide, a see-saw, and more. These are just some of what your kids will enjoy when you go to the playground in the Villa Borghese Gardens. One of the most beautiful gardens in Rome, it's already a must-see itself when you're in the city. And even if you bring your kids along, the whole family can still spend some quality time here. Your little ones—whether they're infants, toddlers, or even big kids—will simply love the rustic feel of the play area. They'll probably have loads of adventures as you enjoy the botanical bliss the place offers.

Parco Del Colle Oppio

Going to the famous Colosseum in Rome might not excite your kids as much as you thought. Sure, this iconic man-made marvel is truly something to behold, but more than anything, they might even end up scared of the place. And if that happens, there's only one antidote: take them to Parco Del Colle Oppio nearby. A stone's throw away from the world-famous landmark, it has a quaint little playground to entertain your kids. While it's not a unique playground, the peace and the fresh air here are enough to put a smile back on your kids' faces.

Parco Villa Celimontana

Also near the Colosseum is Parco Villa Celimontana, another fun park your kids can play and run around in. Perched atop a hill, you can see many of Rome's neighborhoods from this park, in all their rustic, Italian glory! But that's not what will excite your kids! They'll likely focus on the jungle gym in the park instead. They'll be too busy climbing it, running around, and playing all sorts of games to enjoy the view. And if you're lucky, you might just see a man offering pony rides in the park too. Now that's an experience they won't soon forget!

Palatine Hill

Speaking of a hill, there's another one in Rome your kids might also enjoy: Palatine Hill. While it's not exactly a playground, per se, the ruins do make quite the play are for kids. They'll have just as fun a time climbing these ancient relics as they would some standard monkey bars. And the vast green spaces here? The perfect place for an invigorating game of tag! At times, kids don't need the usual slides, swings, see-saws, and such to have fun. Ancient ruins are enough to excite them and let their creative juices flowing for playtime!

Rome may not be the number one city for kids but that doesn't mean that the city isn't a place they'll enjoy. The many playgrounds, play areas, and parks in the Italian capital are enough to have them running around, laughing, and smiling all day long!

Of course, your whole family will enjoy your stay in Rome better if you got a luxury rental to accommodate you while you're here!
